September 30, 2006: The Blastocystis Research Foundation announced the publication of the first reference text on Blastocystis.  The reference text combines work from some of the leading Blastocystis researchers in the world into a single source.

Blastocystis infection has been considered controversial, or even enigmatic in the past.  "By combining the research into a single place, it is possible to achieve an understanding of the dynamics of this organism" stated Foundation Director Ken Boorom.
